San Francisco 49ers 10-2 The seemingly unthinkable has happened. If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order. The top three teams in each division will make up the first 12 teams in the playoffs. But based on how this season has gone, is anyone ready to bet against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks? They already are running away with the division, three games up on the Steelers and four games up on the Browns. In that scenario, the most the Packers would need to do is defeat the Redskins and Bears at home in Weeks 14 and 15, respectively, then win in Detroit in Week 17 -- assuming the Vikings win their final four games.

This figure is reflected in the W column. The Raiders failed to keep pace with them by losing to the Chiefs and the Steelers dragged the Browns further down. In either event, it's a pretty reasonable path. Dallas Cowboys 6-6 The Cowboys owe a thank you to the Eagles, who gave up 37 points to the tanking Dolphins and lost on Sunday. Panthers 5-7 The Rams walked back into the wild-card race with a win over the Cardinals.

But that's where the Cowboys find themselves, largely because the Eagles have lost three consecutive games. And they tend to play pretty well at home late in the season. They can't let up if they want to catch the Saints and stay ahead of the 49ers. The 49ers have lost two games by a total of six points, both on final-play field goals. They jumped the Patriots for the top seed with their win over the 49ers coupled with that team losing at the Texans, thanks to a convincing head-to-head tiebreaker. They're fortunate the Eagles also lost in Week 13 to the Dolphins.

For the record, they lost their second game of the season Sunday in Houston and are far from finished. Pittsburgh Steelers 7-5 The Steelers' sixth win in seven games allowed them to hold on to a spot for which their primary competition is the Titans. With one more victory, they'll have their best regular-season record since 1999. Bengals 1-11 The Dolphins were eliminated Sunday despite their win over the Eagles. Teams in italics have clinched their spot. The Amari Cooper trade continues to pay dividends for the Cowboys. The Bears stayed semi-hot with a win on Thanksgiving.

New Orleans and Kansas City were the latest teams to clinch playoff births. The Bengals can't do better than five wins, which isn't good enough. Dallas has yet to beat a team with a winning record this season in five attempts but could cruise into the playoffs by defeating the teams on its schedule that currently have losing records. They still have a 48% chance to win the division and the likely first-round bye that goes with it. They fell out of first place with the Seahawks beating the Vikings on Monday night. The Rams, Saints and Chiefs are the only teams that have clinched a playoff spot leaving 9 of the 12 positions up for grabs. In the First Round, the division winner with the best record in each conference will be matched against the wild-card team with the lesser record; the wild card team with the better record will play the other division winner.

It is possible for one division in each conference to send five teams to the postseason while the other sends just three. But for the moment, it's reasonable to expect the road to the Super Bowl to go through Baltimore. The Patriots have lost control of home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Note: X denotes a team that has clinched a playoff berth, Z shows a team that has clinched its division, and Y indicates a team that has secured a first-round bye. By dismantling the division-leading Cowboys on the road in a short week, the Bills showed that they are capable of more than just feasting on a weak schedule. The big win in Dallas on Thanksgiving was huge ahead of a tougher final-month schedule, and they keep pushing the Patriots in the division.
