Such qualities have threaded throughout her prolific career in art and architecture, along with a sustained commitment to environmentalism. While she is well-known for her work on the Vietnam War Memorial, the Wave Field is hands down her best work yet. Carte Blanche, Pace at Chesa Büsin, Zuoz, Switzerland, February 20—March 30, 2014. A three-part land art series, Wave Field is a collection of undulating and rolling ocean wave-like landscapes she sculptured from land using simple garden tools. Utopias and Heterotopias: The Wuzhen International Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition, Wuzhen, China, March 27—June 27, 2016. She learned about Japanese gardens and architecture from her father, a ceramist and dean of the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University, Athens, who had grown up in a Japanese-style house in China. Her architectural works have included institutional and private commissions, from a chapel and library for the Children's Defense Fund to the Sculpture Center's space in Long Island City to Aveda's headquarters in downtown Manhattan to private residences throughout the Country.
