Motorhead Clean Your Clock (Album Complet) 2016

Lemmy's declining health that becomes obvious in performances of songs like ''Orgasmatron'' isn't the only problem with this release. And yet there is something that keeps me coming back. The fun stage banter, the manic playing, and at times yes, even the vocals, come through on Clean Your Clock to remind us that this is motherfucking Motorhead and they play rock and roll. Being released almost exactly six months after The Great One's passing, this record serves as a fitting and comforting endcap. The thing that really draws a tear to my eye with Clean Your Clock is how tired Lemmy sounds.

Especially the guitar play is really solid throughout the entire show concerning both the riffs and the solos. Obviously, some people might argue that some classics are missing but at that point one shouldn't forget that it was already a miracle that the band was able to pull off this show. One of the Lemmy's final shows. His vocals have always been a little bit hoarse and mumbling but certain parts of the lyrics are nearly impossible to hear and to understand. Motorhead - Whorehouse Blues 16. Motorhead - Lost Woman Blues 09.

It's admirable that he was still able to tour at this time. The crowd is rarely audible and an authentic live atmosphere is absent. Motorhead - The Chase Is Better Than the Catch 08. It's simply saddening to hear and see this legendary artist that way and it would have been much better not to release this record to keep the memory of a juvenile and tight rock star instead of a sick old man who just wasn't able to stop performing when his health issues seriously impacted his abilities. Only die-hard Motörhead fans should purchase this record.

Review: Motorhead

motorhead clean your clock

On a positive note, Lemmy really delivers an outstanding job if one considers how sick he really was. If you simply want to listen to more recent material instead of watching one single show, the bonus live disc of the tour edition of ''Aftershock'' is also quite satisfactory. Musically the band is still tight and exciting, but Lemmy just seems worn down, a ghost of his former self. It's weird to consider that this might be the last review of the almighty Motorhead that I ever write. In my opinion, the lengthy introduction, guitar solo and drum solo prove that the band already intended to give Lemmy longer breaks than usually during the last tours and while this makes perfect sense in the context, I must admit that these parts aren't particularly interesting to watch or listen to. Clean Your Clock sees Motorhead sounding crisp, but it also forces us to face our own mortality through the perspective of our fallen leader.

In many ways, Clean Your Clock allows you to close the chapter and realize that all good things must come to an end, even those things that we all thought were immortal. Perhaps it's because when I listen to Clean Your Clock for a few precious moments Lemmy is still there, in the same room as me, telling me a story about doing acid with Hawkwind back in the 60's. The fact that he dedicates the song ''Doctor Rock'' to the band's deceased ex-drummer Philthy Animal is also a nice touch. I mean, maybe I will be asked to cover some bootleg live recording or a best of that comes out next year or something, but I get a sense of finality about Clean Your Clock. It leaves me with mixed emotions, thoughts I'm not entirely sure how to sort them out, and acts as a fitting reminder that no matter what, Lemmy is God.

Nevertheless, despite the high sentimental value, this release proves why this band is easily among the very best live acts ever. If you want to see a more recent concert of the band where Lemmy was still in acceptable form, you should go for the two volumes of ''The Wörld Is Ours'' released five and four years prior to this output, respectively. I get that he was killed by death but a part of me has a hard time accepting that he is really gone. Review Summary: Is it possible for a musician to be larger than music itself? His bass play is solid, he doesn't forget any lyrics as far as they're audible to me and his interactions with the crowd are very sympathetic. A reminder that in the end, nothing really matters because we will always have rock and roll to guide us through. This last live album covers one of the band's last concerts recorded in Munich a little bit more than a month before Lemmy's death.

After reviewing Motorhead records for my entire journalistic career somewhere in the dregs of the internet is a review of Bomber I wrote when I was 14 I have come to Clean Your Clock, an album that was recorded a month before Lemmy died on the band's last European tour. I twist the truth, I rule the world, my crown is called deceit I am the emperor of lies, you grovel at my feet I rob you and I slaughter you, your downfall is my gain And still you play the sycophant and revel in you pain And all my promises are lies, all my love is hate I am the politician, and I decide your fate I march before a martyred world, an army for the fight I speak of great heroic days, of victory and might I hold a banner drenched in blood, I urge you to be brave I lead you to your destiny, I lead you to your grave Your bones will build my palaces, your eyes will stud my crown For I am Mars, the god of war, and I will cut you down. Let's also add that some of the stage decorations as during the opening tune ''Bomber'' look truly awesome. Also, next time you call in sick or your tummy aches, try not to forget that a 70-year old man with more miles than a goddamn public bus managed to perform live almost a month before his ascension to Valhalla. The authentic and unpolished sound of this release fits the band.
