I can't say that Goldsmith intended on creating a new genre that's marketed to women but I think she and the book are probably as close as we can get to that moment where authors and publishers realized that female readers were their most powerful demographic. However, there is a couple instances of domestic violence and racial slurs. Buuuuuuut reading this in 2017 is a lot like reading a 470 page book about Donald Trump. Also, I couldn't for the life of me, figure out why these women were constantly showing up to social events that all their ex-husbands were also at. There's a crapton of Trump-esque racism in the story. Right around the 50% mark in the book, Olivia Goldsmith changed her writing style. It added nothing to the plot and very little to character development.

I hated the fact that we switched point of views in the middle of a paragraph. I decided to read this book because it has a movie connection and I wanted to watch the movie again as I didn't really remember it. The first wives are portrayed as innocent, kind women, who really did what they could to make their marriages work. This article is about the 1996 film. The story of how they work together to wreak vengeance on those cads, and improve their own futures and that of their community at the same time, is an entertaining read.

While the book does have some comedy in it, it was much darker than anything in the movie. There are so many supporting characters in the novel that I occasionally wasn't sure who I was reading about, especially as many chapter may have passed since the last time they were mentioned. I am surprised that they made some of the changes that they had in the movie from the book. It developed a following particularly among middle-aged women, and the actresses' highest-grossing project of the decade helped revitalize their careers in film and television. But I was very disappointed in the books. Elise with I usually read books quicker than this, however, I started an online course in early September, and wasn't able to read as often as I usually do. We wanted a movie about empowerment.

What'sbest about the Hawn character is the forthright way the dialogue deals with herdilemma. I'm a 37-year-old man who grew up in Midwestern suburbia and not exactly the intended demographic for this novel but I had no trouble feeling transported into the world of the backstabbing social elite. Onceyou have this structure figured out, there's not much more to think about inthe movie, which alternates heartfelt talks with slapstick and sitcom situations.

Elise starts a relationship with a cast member in her play, Brenda and Morty reconcile and Annie rebuffs Aaron's attempt at reconciliation. It had some ironic bits and some humor - kind of like life. The sex scenes were odd and often the offers to have sex were very strange. They use the assistance of their friends and closest acquaintances to assist them in the ultimate revenge plan to get even more to help women everywhere.

The concept of this book was a great one, but the way it was written is straight up disgusting. Divorced and living with her 8-year-old son, she is happy to have her old friends in her life again. While the film was a terrific screwball comedy, the book goes so much deeper. Elise with drinking too much and becoming independence of their former spouses. The book is about 3 divorced women, who decide to get back at their ex-spouses. Annie's husband only left her but refused to acknowledge their daughter with Down's Syndrome.
