The rawness of Lydia and Jean's relationship was beautiful. However, in 1950s rural Scotland, the women's relationship raises questions after the mother and son start to live with her after they get evicted. And from my research, I knew that this would have been far more difficult for them to achieve in Britain back then. However, while I applaud the adaptation of my novel, and I was moved by the final kiss two beautiful women together, proud and public, while people tut and stare , I am not in love with the ending. It usually makes it a very slow read for me and sometimes a lil boring and I tend to opt to watching the movie adaptation if there is one.
