A good friend of ours suggested the old Marshall Blues breaker pedal might work for Jim, so we found one on ebay and I had it sent to Jim who said it was pretty good. I just built the basic layout with the presence pot offboard and love it. We kept it going pretty well until the spring of 2004 when we just got too busy keeping up with normal orders. I found out that I was on that latter side. V2 For those who want that little bit extra switching versatility. He wrote : Got the pedal and used it over the weekend. With a guitar driving the circuit I get a massive volume drop.

King of Tone Clone

I got mine recently, and it is pretty dang nice. And no interest in clones to be honest. It's also the only one with consistently low inventory on Reverb. After four, your orders will be cancelled. I swapped it for a Jetter Helium that I latter trade but that is the way it goes with me. It's still an open question how the fixed clipping stages will affect these when they are chained. I thought it was best for low gain and boost.

Be sure to go to the link above before for status, you can email if your date reached the top but you have not gotten your email yet. It does not change anything else about the sound, you should be able to get the exact same sound as the normal version, by turning the drive knob down a bit. I had already soldered in the pairs of diodes, and decided not to remove them and socket them since I probably wasn't going to use the distortion setting anyway. Still very happy about the pedal and my Tube Screamers aren't getting a lot of use. They are 100uF and will have a voltage listed too, 16V or 25V usually. I brought it up to Woodstock and Jim's sounded better, I was surprised! So what accounts for the more recent jump? I'll bring it with me to the Wed nigh blues jam and see how it all works out before I do anything else to it.

Breaking out that old Marshall was key. I much prefer the 1N4001 over them. All emails sent to analogspam except to get on the list can not be replied to, sorry! I'll just keep an open mind and see where it fits best. Nick, that's a fitting name for that pedal! Looking at what the original Klon sells for, who knows? First off, this is an amazing looking pedal. None of them were bad per se, but if you actually want the original you kinda have to have the original. I have owned numerous Analogman pedals and trust his mods and pedals so much but this I think was a little bit of a let down for me.

If you need evidence of the resurgence of the once-passé sounds of the phase shifter in the pedal market, take a look at all the new models hitting the streets from the who's who of boutique makers or give a listen to bands like Tame Impala, who seem to put phasing on every track. The highs are a touch smoother and overall it sounds fuller and less harsh through my Marshall. Other thing to consider at lest with fixed clipping diodes , could be swapping the A100K volume pot for linear to gain better control over the volume. Will it only increase in value and become more rare? Here's mine: I finished it last night and got to play with it for a while this evening. By it self I felt it was pretty weak and sort of dull. Though I did read a little about the dip switches since this was unique to me and to this pedal.

That pedal gets better with every use and I sure appreciate being on board. Nothing new under the sun for what I see :P Great work, Mark, this will be my next project after Dr Boogie and Klon Centaur. But since I just finished the pedal, I am not messing with the chips just yet. Though it's made in China, we use the same parts as the King of Tone - best Japanese chip and capacitors, not cheap Chinese parts. I packed up almost all my other effects and went to town with the KoT! He got a Ver4 as a backup in 2009 and said, can't tell you how much I enjoy the analogman pedal. But the point with this is you should just build one with the options and switches you would prefer. Other i did with 100K drive pot and four 1N914s the second and third row on the right.

It is really tempting to build a clone with different op amps, and put it in line with the KoT, just to have the extra tones in my palette. The amp I leaned on the most was my 62 brown Fender Deluxe but my Mission Amps Super and my 69 Twin reverb did get some time too. Jacks on top for best layout on pedalboards. Different animal, but am curious how they play together since they were originally from the same series of pedals. This mode can get about 4 times louder than a tube screamer if desired.

I normally use the normal mode as it's the best sounding to my ears. Having two actual overdrive circuits allows you to use both pedals at once, in series stacking for even more possible tones and levels of drive!. He told the employees to file for unemployment. I did high gain mod to with a 250k lin pot. You won't lose money if you don't like it. Also, I found a site that seems to have some ma856s. But I believe it's really worth it.
